Cloud hosting firm Brightsolid has joined forces with an Aberdeen internet service provider (ISP) to offer access to a state-of-the-art data centre that is currently being built in the Granite city.
The DC Thomson-owned firm will work in partnership with Converged Communications, enabling the ISP’s customers to access Brightsolid’s new £5million data centre.
The tie up comes as Converged signed up with CityFibre, developer of the Aberdeen Core, an ultra-fast “gigabit” broadband network in the city.
Richard Higgs, chief executive of Brightsolid said the partnership with Converged would expand its “connectivity portfolio”.
He added: “What’s particularly exciting is the opportunity for customers to come into our data centre through virtually any connectivity provider with Converged’ s new gigabit bandwidth from their partnership with CityFibre.”
Neil Christie, Converged Technical Director, said: “As the Oil & Gas capital of Europe, Aberdeen has been waiting a long time for world class datacentre facilities, and Brightsolid’s arrival is most welcome. .
“The timing of the facility could not be better, as our rapidly expanding gigabit network footprint means that our customers will be able to access their equipment and associated services at speeds of up to 10gbps.“
CityFibre is now embarking on the next stage of deployment of the Aberdeen Core network , extending into areas including the Harbour, Altens, Tullos, Dyce and the Bridge of Don.
DC Thomson is also owner of The Press & Journal.
