Aberdeen firm RQT Precision Engineering said yesterday it had invested nearly £1million in new equipment and technology.
The design consultancy, manufacturing and repair company – founded in 2010 – added it had recently purchased computerised numerical control machinery worth more than £900,000.
It said it also bought new inspection equipment and computer software for an additional investment of £62,000.
RQT, which employs eight people, operates from premises at Farburn Industrial Estate, Dyce.
Managing director Davie Scalley said: “We have heavily invested in the company to help us be more competitive and efficient, enabling us to provide accurately machined components to customer specific requirements.
“This comes at a prime time for RQT as we have seen an increase in demand for our services.
“We can now provide the full engineering service, from concept design, project management right through to manufactured items.”
He added: “Not only will these new investments develop our capabilities in manufacturing but they will also help us to accurately reverse engineer customer legacy parts, which may no longer have manufacturing drawings or material specifications.
“We will also be able to generate dimensional drawings … and manufacture new parts to suit – reducing costs, while also improving turnaround time.”
The company services and works closely with the oil and gas, renewables, aerospace and automation industries.
