A new data centre in Aberdeen has won contracts worth over £1million in its first three months of operations.
Brightsolid launched the high-tech facility on Lang Stracht – on the premises of the Press and Journal – in October after a £5million investment.
Dundee-based Brightsolid said it was on a three-year strategy to build an independently strong business.
Turnover at the IT company owned by DC Thomson & Co and specialising in cloud-delivered business applications was down 3.1% at £5.16million for the year to March 31, 2015.
A £400,000 rise in administrative expenses resulted in the pre-tax loss more than doubling from just under £350,000 to £821,146.
Director Michael Thomson said: “Revenues remained flat as we re-structured our revenue base as customers move away from our older connectivity products to our world class cloud hosting offerings.
“This included significant savings for our inter-group customers.
“Short-term profits fell as we made the necessary investments in our team to allow us to grow the business to meet our three year plan.
“Due to the nature of our business, revenue reductions and investments impact our performance more quickly than sales, and thus our financial performance can lag the actual health of the business.”
Since the end of the financial year, shareholders have re-affirmed their commitment to the company with a £10million investment, which includes the investment in Aberdeen.
He added: “This investment is already surpassing expectations as we have sold well over £1m of annually recurring contracts in the three months since it opened.
“Subsequently we are well on track to hit the goals of our three year plan.”
The company has added new backup and disaster recovery solutions to its offering.
Next year it will complete Scotland’s first Azure-enabled cloud stack – the UK’s most future-ready cloud.
