Deeside Brewery is toasting a string of contract wins which will see its beers appearing on more supermarket shelves.

The craft brewery, based at Lochton of Leys by Banchory, said yesterday it had secured its first listing with Morrisons.

It successfully concludes the firm’s business strategy for listings across the UK’s four biggest supermarkets – Asda, Sainbury’s, Tesco and Morrisons.

The company has already seen more than 13,000 bottles of its leading products, LAF and Macbeth, go on sale at Morrisons since the start of September as part of the retailer’s Scottish Beer Festival promotion.

From Monday, Deeside’s brews will become a permanent item with the Bradford-based grocer.

Deeside is one of 11 signed up to supply the supermarket with 30 new beers under the Craft Beer Clan Scotland partnership.

Steve Crossland, managing director at the firm, said: “The unstoppable cultural phenomenon that is craft beer continually presents Deeside with new and exciting opportunities.

“We are thrilled to have secured our first listing with Morrisons, completing the big four set.

“Customers across Scotland are looking for more premium drinking experiences from local brands.”

Deeside’s products hit the shelves of Asda in April, while the firm celebrated another first in August after signing a deal with Scotmid for its 330ml bottle range of Rye, IPA, APA, Stout and Craft Lager to be sold in the co-operative’s stores across the north-east.

Mr Crossland said: “Securing distribution with major supermarkets is a great milestone for Deeside Brewery and further cements our place in the Scottish food and drink industry.”
