Sturgeon hails pact with China oil firm as jobs boost ahead

Nicola Sturgeon hailed new Chinese investment in an oil and gas firm as “great news” for the north-east as she began a five-day Far East visit.
Oilfield service firm Triton Marine is gearing up for a major recruitment drive in Aberdeen thanks to the cash injection deal being signed today in Beijing.
The first minister has flown out to showcase Scottish business and companies in a bid to further boost fast-rising exports – led by demand for malt whiskies.
She has vowed to raise human rights abuses with the regime.
“This agreement is great news for the oil and gas industry in Scotland and for Aberdeen in particular,” she said.
“It is further evidence that Scotland is increasingly seen by international markets as a fantastic place to do business and invest.”
