Holiday company Barrhead Travel said bookings soared by 29% in the wettest winter on record as customers planned their summer getaways.
The year-on-year growth came in the first quarter of 2014 and was partly driven by a 40% increase in demand for travel to long-haul destinations, the Glasgow-based group added.
Barrhead, which has a travel shop in Aberdeen, said cruise bookings also increased considerably.
Chief executive Sharon Munro added: “Scottish holidaymakers have been flocking in their droves to book a summer getaway following the poor weather over the winter months.
“January to March is always a busy time for us, however, this year we’ve enjoyed an exceptional response from travellers looking to jet off to foreign shores.”
