PwC in Scotland and the UK delivers growth in an improving market

Professional services giant PwC hailed a strong performance in Scotland as it reported UK revenue growth of 5% to £2.8billion for the year to June 30.

It said each if its four UK business divisions grew, with the assurance practice, which includes audit work, growing by 6% to £1.02billion.

Tax division revenue rose by 5% to £714million, the deals arm saw 3% growth to £580million and consulting business was up by 4% to £495million.

PwC said it invested more than £200million to grow and transform the company in the UK.

It added: “The Scottish practice has also delivered a strong performance across all business areas, reporting double-digit growth in 2014.

“This reflects an increasing pace of economic recovery in Scotland and mounting business confidence, which is reflected, for example, in increased deal activity.

“The practice is also benefiting from significant internal and external audit wins in the previous year.”

Lindsay Gardiner, regional leader at PwC in Scotland, added: “Over the last six years, our focus on our clients and our people hasn’t wavered.

“By holding our nerve, even in the most challenging markets, we’ve built a solid platform from which to grow a diverse, responsible, and profitable business.”

PwC said its 2013/14 profits grew by £22million to £772million, an average of £722,000 per partner.
