The Marine Conservation Society (MCS) and Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) are on the lookout for the UK’s most sea friendly chippies.
Their Good Catch Sustainable Seafood Award will recognise the fish and chip shop working hardest to source seafood from fisheries and farms that are responsibly managed.
Launching their search, MCS said: “Does your local chippy deserve to be rewarded for selling seafood from sustainable sources?
“If you know they sell Marine Stewardship Certified seafood, or sell fish from the Marine Conservation Society fish-to-eat list”, or take other steps to make sure the seafood they sell is sustainable, they could be in with a chance of winning this prestigious award.”
The accolade is among the categories in the next National Fish and Chip Awards, run by seafood industry body Seafish.
Entries need to be received by July 18, and the chippy owner must register his or her business for it.
