After two years of Covid-19, unpredictable exam schedules and remote learning, Grantown Grammar School let it all hang out at this year’s senior dance.
On a balmy evening in late June, the Class of 2022 gathered together to celebrate surviving and thriving through one last school year.
The festivities kicked off with prizes and a graduation ceremony. But it was the summer solstice-themed dance party that brought the night and the year to a fitting conclusion.
Students and staff alike kicked up their heels and kicked their cares away while the band carried them through the night.
The graduating S6 cohort organised the dance, and it was a chance to say farewell to friends and glimpse a side of their teachers that they might never have expected.
Grantown Grammar Senior Dance: A night of resilience and community spirit
Head teacher Claire McGonigal said the Grantown Grammar Senior Dance was the perfect way to close out the year.
“After a difficult year with Covid complications, it was lovely to see both pupils and staff dancing and enjoying themselves on a warm summer’s night.
“It was a night to celebrate resilience and a strong community spirit as we wished our senior pupils every success in the future and look to the next academic year with real optimism and anticipation.”
