The 2022 Evening Express Christmas Concert brought in £15,000 that will benefit local primary schools.

More than 700 young performers had their chance in the spotlight across two shows, one at 2pm and another at 7pm.

And to top it all off, there were more than 2,000 tickets sold raising £15,000 for the Evening Express Pounds for Primaries initiative – with all of the proceeds benefiting north-east schools.

Show sponsor International School Aberdeen was just one of the 23 schools and community organisations who took part.

Show director Laura Pike said there was only one word to describe Sunday’s concerts.

“Magnificent,” she said. “I thought the children all day over both shows, the audience, they were all just ready for a big celebration.”

Laura has had a hand in the concert before, but she said that this year’s performance felt special right from the start.

“It was really more of a celebration of getting back together and back to normal again.

“It was fantastic to be a part of it and see the kids and I’m so proud of everyone involved. I’m looking forward already to next year, but I think by then we’ll need the huge arena at P&J Live.”

And with such a great turn out, we’ve pulled together a gallery with all of the best images from the afternoon Evening Express Christmas Concert.
