Despite having big footsteps to follow, the youngsters performing during the second Evening Express Christmas Concert certainly didn’t shy away from the spotlight.
Around 700 children took to the stage to impress P&J Live audiences, with shows at 2pm and 7pm, selling more than 2,000 tickets and raising £15,000.
The money will go toward the Evening Express Pounds for Primaries initiative, with all of the proceeds to benefit north-east schools. Show sponsor International School Aberdeen was just one of the 23 schools and community organisations who took part.
Show director Laura Pike said there was only one word to describe the concerts which took place on Sunday December 11.
“Magnificent,” she said. “I thought the children all day over both shows, the audience, they were all just ready for a big celebration.”
‘It was fantastic to see the kids’
Laura has had a hand in the concert before, but she said that this year’s performance felt special right from the start.
“It was really more of a celebration of getting back together and back to normal again.
“It was fantastic to be a part of it and see the kids and I’m so proud of everyone involved. I’m looking forward already to next year, but I think by then we’ll need the huge arena at P&J Live.”
