The Care Inspectorate is considering whether to investigate a north-east nursery after a parent raised concerns about the treatment of her child.
Claire Harrison, from Inverurie, has made public a number of accusations relating to the care given by Les Enfants Nursery to her two-year-old son, Isaac.
Her son started at the Inverurie nursery in October but Miss Harrison claims she was forced to withdraw him following a spate of concerning incidents.
On one occasion, she alleges her son fell down a set of metal stairs after he was left unattended by staff.
And she also accused the nursery of leaving her son in a dirty nappy on one occasion, while on another day she alleges he was left to play outside in the cold without being properly wrapped up against the elements.
Miss Harrison has posted her concerns on Facebook and they have now been shared hundreds of times, garnering more than 600 comments.
The Care Inspectorate has confirmed it is looking into her complaints to assess whether a full investigation is required.
Miss Harrison has declined to comment further while the initial inquiry is ongoing but in her post stated: “I am so angry that I put my trust in people who are meant to care for children and have been let down massively.
“I don’t think I can ever bring myself to trust a nursery again.
“I just hope nobody’s child goes through the same thing.”
The nursery, which is located on Burghmuir Circle, has been open since 2011 and can cater for up to 173 pre-school children and babies.
According to the Care Inspectorate website, its most recent inspection took place in 2017.
Inspectors gave the nursery three grades of “Adequate” and one grade of “Good”.
A spokesman said: “A concern has been raised with us about this nursery.
“Our first priority is always the health, safety and wellbeing of children and we take all concerns raised with us seriously and consider all information given to us carefully.
“Where we uphold a complaint, we will publish the outcome on our website.
“Anyone with a concern about a care service can contact us on 0345 600 9527.”
Alison Innes, a director of Les Enfants said: “We are in regular contact with the Care Inspectorate and have provided information regarding the postings on Facebook but we are not aware of the details of any complaint made by this parent to them.
“The Care Inspectorate has not informed us how they intend to proceed with this complaint, but we will fully cooperate with any investigation that may be required. We take the safety of all our children very seriously and work hard to provide a caring, safe and fun learning environment.
“Unfortunately, due to the unpleasant and highly offensive nature of the postings on Facebook we have reported this to the police as we take intimidation and harassment of our staff extremely seriously.
“We have also instructed solicitors to consider what action we can take on the defamatory and deliberately inaccurate content of many of the posts made on social media.”
