A recruitment firm has apologised if marketing featuring Donald Trump caused any offence to students.
Target Jobs sent an e-mail on the day after Mr Trump won the US presidential election, titled “If he can, you can”.
It also featured an image of the United States flag with the text “Anything can happen” over it.
Jasmin Pacha, a 24-year-old American studying at Aberdeen University, said: “To post something so on the nose literally the following day was a bit much.
“I don’t know if Target Jobs was trying to be funny, or if they don’t think they get a big enough American audience to care.”
She claimed most compatriots likely to receive the mail were “not happy with the election results, because they are probably more globally minded people living abroad.”
Another student however said it was “simple, yet funny”.
Chloe Burgess, Target Jobs director of online, said the intention of the e-mail was to offer hope to students who feel the graduate market is failing them.
Ms Burgess said: “I apologise if the subject line or the content of the e-mail offended anyone.”
Target Jobs operates the Jobs Customer Relationship Management tool, a database of job opportunities used by Aberdeen University and other universities.
A university spokesman said: “The university has no input to the communications sent by Target Jobs but will feedback any concerns from students to the company.”
