Big voice crooner Tony Christie has been unveiled as the start turn at the cHeRries Awards 2017, in association with Robert Gordon University’s Aberdeen Business School and supported by Mattioli Woods.

The singer, a living legend who will be asking the audience “Is this the way to Amarillo?”, will be followed by fabulous dance floor-filling party quintet, the 5th Avenue band.

The master of ceremonies will once again be Scottish funny man Fred MacAulay, who said: “I am delighted to have been asked back to host the awards again. The 2016 event was a cracking evening and as always, the Aberdeen audience was up for a good time.”

Twenty-five individuals, teams and employers have been selected to go forward to the gala awards night celebrating successes and examples of excellence in the fields of human resources, recruitment and training in Scotland.

A further award – the Top Cherry – will also be unveiled on the night, which is the 10th ann-iversary of the annual cHeRries Awards ceremony to be held at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre on Thursday, June 1.

As usual, the AECC will be serving up another 5-star meal for guests.

The event is supporting Friends of Anchor, which has launched its Dream Big £1million campaign to coincide with the charity’s 20th anniversary.

The aim of Dream Big is to raise £1million for Aberdeen University’s Development Trust Plan which is trying to raise £4million to bring an advanced oncology unit and world-class cancer research team to the north east.

There will be some great raffle prizes to be won, including a pair of VIP tickets for the Glamis Proms, Sunday brunch at Malmaison and a magnum of champagne.
Gifts for every guest are provided courtesy of Polaris Learning, Soul Casino, Davidson Morris and Taqa.

Keith Adam, managing director of Polaris Learning, said: “We are delighted to be a sponsor of The cHeRries Awards 2017.

“During the last 20 years, we have been fortunate enough to work with many excellent HR and training practitioners, whether their focus is training, learning and development or competence assurance. We see time and time again the impact that great HR and training practitioners can have on their team and their organisation.

“Congratulations to all the finalists and winners!”
