A Highlander celebrated picking up a degree in mechanical and electrical engineering from Aberdeen University yesterday.
But Eoghan MacNamara’s interests were far from confined to his studies as he developed his keen interest in running during his time in the north-east.
He now coaches other people and hopes to pick up a job in Aberdeen to allow him to keep going with this role.
The 23-year-old from the Black Isle said: “I run anything from 800 metres to 10 kilometres.
“I first got involved with the Inverness Harriers Athletics Club when I was 14.
“We came down to Aberdeen a few times and it was one of the main reasons that I came to university here.
“The facilities and the fact you could combine mechanical and electrical engineering settled it for me.
“I now do training with the Aberdeen athletics club and my hope is to get a job in either mechanical engineering or management here, so that I can keep going with that.”
He added: “It is a massive relief to get to the end of a five-year course, but it does not feel like that long ago that we were all here starting it.”
