A woman from Buckie had to take the day off work in the first week of a new job to attend her graduation ceremony at the Robert Gordon University (RGU) yesterday.
Amy Bruce is already putting the skills she learnt on the architectural technology course to good use in her role with Huntly-based John Wink Design.
The 21-year-old’s time at university has been a successful one, as in her first year she was given the Simpson Shield of Technology for outstanding academic performance, which she says gave her the confidence to go on to succeed.
She said family and friends helped her get to the finishing line of a tough course.
She said: “It is hard to believe that four years have passed and I am soon to be an RGU graduate, and I can honestly say I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at university.
“Our course is rather intense, resulting in lots of late nights and weekends spend working hard.
“However I was lucky to have made some lifelong friends on my course who were always there with words of encouragement when it was needed, along with my family and friends from home who always supported me.”
Miss Bruce added: “To be in a job so quickly after all the hard work is just brilliant.
“The skills I learned to the degree are already proving helpful in the job. It’s all the same software.”
