An orthopaedic surgeon will appear at a tribunal after being convicted of a string of assaults.
Dr Niall Craig will attend a Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service (MPTS) hearing next month in Manchester, where the organisation will consider if he is still fit to work.
The surgeon’s online profile states that he treats patients in both public and private hospitals in Aberdeen.
He qualified as a doctor from Aberdeen University in 1992 and in 2015 helped pioneer a new type of bone graft using silk from moths in spinal fusion surgery.
The MPTS says Dr Craig was convicted of a string of assaults at Aberdeen Sheriff Court in February.
The following month, he was sentenced to a community payback order with a two-year supervision period.
On January 8, 2018, the MPTS will consider “a new case of impairment by reason of a conviction or caution.”
