The highlight of Gordon Maclennan’s time at university was playing for the football society in Prague.
Far from his native Stornoway, the mechanical engineering student described the trip as “brilliant”.
The 22-year-old is now heading home to work on a crab boat over the summer while looking for jobs.
After picking up his degree at Elphinstone Hall yesterday, he said that when he first arrived in the Granite City it took his cohorts a while to work out where he was from.
“Most people are confused by my accent,” he said.
“When I first moved it was a big change. There were far more people than I was used to back in Stornoway.
“But I fitted in very quickly.”
A keen sportsman, Mr Maclennan wasted no time in signing up for the football society, which helped.
He is now hoping to land a subsea engineering job, and has an interview already lined up.
