Young people from across the north-east have been asked to come together to discuss Scotland’s future relationship with the EU at a special event this weekend.
Academic experts and politicians will address the Scottish Chapter of the 89 Initiative – a “think-and-do tank” which aims to engage young people in policy-making on European matters.
Guest speakers at the special conference on Saturday will include MSP Lewis Macdonald, Professor Michael Keating, who is the chairman of Scottish Politics at Aberdeen University, and business expert Professor Raquel Ortega-Argiles from Birmingham University.
The event, held at Aberdeen University, will consist of a keynote speech, debate and roundtable discussions where participants will be asked to make suggestions about the nation’s post-Brexit relationship with the EU.
89Initiative is hosting a conference on March 2nd at New Kings, Old Aberdeen where participants can contribute their opinions on Scottish-EU relations, and hear those of policy experts! https://t.co/pfXkjzIw7d

Nerea Heras, president of the Scottish Chapter of 89 Initiative, said: “We hope young people in Aberdeen and the surrounding area will come together to discuss policy matters relevant to their future.
“Our main objective is to help them learn from experts, share their opinions with peers and come up with a proposal of what they would like policy-makers to do.”
The event is scheduled to take place at 9.30am. Participation is free, and lunch and coffee will be provided to all participants.
