A coastguard rescue team and the RNLI lifeboat from Oban have been launched to assist a student with a suspected dislocated leg on the Isle of Kerrera.
First reports of the incident were received by the Stornoway Coastguard Operations Centre at 11.46am with Oban coast rescue team transported alongside the crew of the Oban lifeboat to the scene, where crews are currently assessing the impact of the casualty’s injuries.
A spokeswoman said: “We are currently dealing with an incident on the Isle of Kerrera where a group of students from Glasgow University have been climbing.
“One of the group has fallen down on some boulders and is believed to have sustained a dislocated leg.
“Oban lifeboat has been launched to assist and we are awaiting the crew’s assessment of injuries. The casualty will be transported back to the lifeboat station in Oban where an ambulance will be waiting to take over.”
