An Aberdeen organisation that provides sporting and creative activities for young people has been commended for its work improving mental health.
Streetsport, which has been run by Robert Gordon University since 2006, picked up a top prize during a virtual ceremony for the annual StreetGames awards.
Its StreetWise initiative was launched following concerns from young people that they did not know where to turn for help regarding mental health.
The project is designed to tackle the stigma surrounding these issues and, depending on the situation, could involve training up more team members to help with these matters or directing those in need to more specialist support.
Mark Williams, Streetsport chief operating officer, said: “It’s fantastic to receive this national award.
“The StreetWise campaign is still in its infancy and to have it recognised in this manner so soon is a proud moment for all involved.
“It is vitally important young people receive the correct support in a manner they want it and the StreetWise campaign does just that.”
