More than 300 scientists from around the world have gathered in the north-east for a gut microbiology conference.
The four-day event, which began yesterday, has been organised by Aberdeen University’s Rowett Institute of Nutrition and Health, and the Institut National de la Recherche Agronomique.
Researchers, human and animal health experts, industry representatives and policymakers have gathered at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre.
The event will focus on themes such as how gut bacteria can prevent or cause diseases, and how it can adversely affect our health.
The conference takes place every two years, and alternates between Aberdeen and Clermont-Ferrand.
