When two Aberdeen students started the same chemical engineering course five years ago, they never dreamed they would end up married by the end of it.
Nadia Rasul and Hassan Raja were childhood friends and grew up living just a street away from each other at Bridge of Don.
But it was only after they enrolled at Aberdeen University and shared the same classes that love began to blossom.
Yesterday, Mrs Rasul graduated at Elphinstone Hall with a masters in engineering in front of her proud husband.
The couple, who are both 22, were married just weeks ago on June 14.
Mr Raja graduated with a BEng from the same course last year and has been working for Costain Upstream.
“We got engaged last summer and it has been hard work planning a wedding and studying for my final exams,” said his new bride.
“It was a very hectic time and this year has flown by, but it is great to have a double celebration now.”
The couple have just returned from honeymoon in Thailand, and Mrs Rasul is due to start working with Chevon in September.
She said: “I could have never imagined that we’d end up together. We didn’t even speak much when we first started the course, but things could not have turned out any better.”
