A management graduate is starting off her career at a luxury hotel in Aberdeen.
Joanne Black received a degree in international hospitality management from Robert Gordon University (RGU) yesterday and will now take part in the first graduate trainee management programme at the five-star Chester Hotel.
The 22-year-old, who lives in Portlethen, said: “It feels unreal. I didn’t think I would get here for a while, but I’ve finally made it to this stage. I wouldn’t change a thing, and I would do it all again in a heart beat.”
Miss Black has always been interested in hospitality, and the idea of working with people.
She took the opportunity to study abroad as part of her degree and spent a year in the United States in both New York and Florida.
She said: “My year away in America was second to none, it was an unbelievable experience. I loved all my classes, and I’ve got friends that are friends for life now.
“It has been a life changing experience, and it has really made me grow up as a person.”
Her first class honours degree, which she achieved with eight A-grades, and her determination to succeed helped her secure the coveted Chester Hotel position.
“It should be really exciting,” she said. “I’m eager to get started there.”
