A postgraduate student from Turriff has juggled work, studying and family life to gain her PhD.
Lyndsay Alexander, who is a musculoskeletal physiotherapist, has been carrying out her academic research at the same time as working as a lecturer at Robert Gordon University (RGU).
She said: “Combining work and home life is a bit of a juggling act.
“I’m a member of staff, and we deal with that with postgraduate students that come back, but I think when you go through it yourself it’s really apparent to you.
“But it helps if you get a lot of support from a very good husband, and family and friends.”
Mrs Alexander was joined at her graduation ceremony by her husband Bill, and five-year-old daughter Andie.
She will now continue lecturing at the university, and will put her research knowledge into practice at her clinic, Turriff Physiotherapy.
“My PhD investigated how the discs in the back behave in different positions such as sitting, standing and lying, in people with no back problems and people with sciatica.
“I’m enjoying putting everything I’ve learned into practice with patients at my clinic and I will continue to use the research skills I’ve learned in my lecturer role at RGU.”
