A north-east dad has admitted dumping his baby girl in a bush outside Aberdeen University.
The 33-year-old, who can not be named for legal reasons, appeared at the city’s sheriff court yesterday and admitted willfully neglecting the infant on August 9 by abandoning her behind a bush on Regent Walk.
The man admitted leaving the two-year-old on her own in the dark for up to 45 minutes before she was recovered.
Court papers stated that the incident left the child “distressed” and left her at risk.
The court heard that the dad had “significant mental problems”.
As a result Sheriff Kenneth Stewart deferred sentence on him for a month so background reports could be prepared.
He will return to court on October 16.
