Art students from Aberdeen showed off their work at an exhibition during a week-long trip to Macedonia.
The second, third and fourth year contemporary art practice students, from the Gray’s School of Art, spent seven days in capital city Skopje.
As well as meeting influential artists from their field of study, the group also created a pop-up display of work based on the country’s contemporary art scene.
David Rae created a series of three paintings depicting a car, bus, and digger.
The 19-year-old said: “The digger was the first thing that interested me. I thought it perfectly represented the way I saw the country and what is currently happening there.
“The government is doing a lot of building work in an attempt to revamp the city. However, the country still has a lot of problems to address so I feel the digger represents this.
“The car highlights the amount of old cars in the city and the bus represents the journey that the city is on to improve.”
The students were also asked to consider how art in Skopje compares to Aberdeen.
Lecturer Jon Blackwood said: “Skopje was certainly a challenging and stimulating environment for the students and many have said they will go back.
“Our exhibition was a great success. The opening was the first public exhibition for many of the group and was attended by over 150 people.”
