A Harvard professor will give a talk on the science behind happiness at Aberdeen University on Friday.
Psychologist, Professor David Gilbert, will host the first of a new annual lecture series showcasing the latest thinking in his field.
He will discuss his research, which shows that people are not good at predicting what will make them happy or how long the feeling will last.
Dr Jasna Martinovic from the university’s School of Psychology said: “Professor Gilbert will give an engaging insight into the science behind happiness, examining what the true sources of happiness are, the role that society plays in defining happiness for us, and how it relates to how we imagine our future.”
The lecture, titled Happiness: What your mother didn’t tell you, will take place in the university’s King’s College conference centre from 6.30pm on Friday and is free to attend.
