A willingness to help others was the inspiring factor for Sarah Skene as she graduated with distinction in pharmacy from Robert Gordon University (RGU) yesterday.
The 21-year-old from Aberdeen will be able to put these skills to good use when she starts her new job in the Boots store in the city’s Bon Accord centre next week.
She hopes to become a fully qualified pharmacist by next summer.
She said: “The past four years have been really hard work and I’m so pleased that the hours I’ve spent working away have paid off.
“This ceremony is the highlight of it all, it’s a bit surreal but it’s great to get the grades I was hoping for.”
The pinnacle of her time at university came when she was given the chance to present her work to experts in the field, who were evidently impressed with what they heard.
She explained: “During my final year two of my classmates and I were privileged to be invited to the Scottish Clinical Skills Network conference in Dumfries to present the findings of our dissertation work.
“Much to our surprise, we were awarded the prize for the best student presentation, which was a great result.”
