Forres man Jack Grigor doubled his degrees from Aberdeen University yesterday as he picked up a masters in accounting and finance.
The 22-year-old had little time to celebrate the end of his studying though – as soon as he finished his dissertation, he started a new job at Pricewaterhousecooper (PwC), one of the world’s biggest auditors.
He said taking the time to do a second degree at the university ensured he was embarking on the right career.
“My first degree was in economics and at the end of that I was not sure what I wanted to do,” he said.
“But that’s the great thing about university, you don’t have to make your mind up straight away.
“I had a lot of friends who were in the same position and they came back to do another degree.”
Mr Grigor’s studying will not stop there however, as he will have to do more in his three year training period with PwC.
He said: “They’re definitely not over – I’ve got five in three days this December.”
Mr Grigor moved from his Forres hometown to Aberdeen when he started his first degree.
“I struggled a bit at the start and I missed home, but I eventually got used to it and came to enjoy Aberdeen,” he said.
“The people you meet are the best part of university, it’s a great community and you still speak to lots of people once you’ve finished.”
