The Robert Gordon University (RGU) in Aberdeen is celebrating a record turnout at its recent student elections.
More than 2,000 students turned out to vote for positions for the 2016/17 academic year – an increase of 7.6% from the previous year.
A total of 12,625 votes were cast to elect people into 15 positions including three presidents and nine vice presidents, the highest ever at the university.
Michele Collie, general manager of the RGU: Union, said the was a real buzz during the campaign.
She said: “We are thrilled with the turnout this year which saw a record number of students engage with the election period.
“There was a real buzz about campus as our candidates all did a fantastic job at campaigning for their nominated positions as they battled it out to represent the student body.
“We are looking forward to welcoming one of the largest executive teams to date at the helm of RGU:Union which will work closely with the student body and university across a wide range of areas to continually enhance the student experience.”
