Ballater got into the Christmas spirit last weekend when it hosted its annual Winter Festival.
A skating rink was be set up in the Victoria Hall, Station Square, along with a burger stall and a viewing of the BFG.
The ice rink was available on Saturday, along with a photo booth and hot drinks and home bakes with the flavour of Christmas in the Silver Blades pop-up cafe and a tuck shop for the kids.
There was also a farmer’s market on the Village Green along with a roundabout, bouncy castle and Santa’s Grotto. Festive stalls were set up in the Glenaden Hotel Function Room. The Ballater and District Pipe Band paraded down the main street while the village Christmas lights were switched on, followed by a carol service around the nativity with mulled wine and mincemeat pies.
Organiser Val Norton said: “This was our fifth Winter Festival and it’s always well-attended and loved by the children, but some years have been adversely affected by the weather. So this year, we put some of the activities undercover as a precaution.”
