The second of two fine films, requested by members of the group Inverness Film Fans (InFiFa), will be screened on Tuesday evening at the cinema within Eden Court, Inverness.
The group always selects an interesting, often unusual movie, and next week is no exception as they are screening A Prophet, a prison drama made in 2009, directed by Jacques Audiard and starring Tahar Rahim, Niels Arestrup and Adel Bencherif.
Nineteen-year-old Franco-Arab Malik El Djebena is sentenced to six years for a crime he says he did not commit. Caught between feuding prison gangs of Corsicans and Muslims, he is offered protection by Corsican mafioso César Luciani, but at a price. Said to be a prison drama like no other, the film was winner of the BAFTA Best Foreign Language Film award, Cannes Grand Jury Prize, 11 César awards and a further 47 international film awards, and regarded as one of the director’s finest films.
A Prophet will be screened at 7.15pm on Tuesday. Everyone is welcome at these public screenings, which are followed by an opportunity for informal discussion. Contact www.invernessfilmfans.org or Eden Court box office on 01463 234234.
