My winter was spent wrapped up in fleecy blankets, cheering at the screen along with the audiences or nodding in firm agreement with the judges.
Aside from a brief student period where jagerbombs ruled over Saturday night television, I have been watching the X Factor at the weekend for as long as I can remember.
The live tour is the complete opposite of my living room. Prepare for screaming girls, intense vocals and plenty of exciting stage effects.
The X Factor Live Tour has loud music, bright lights and a host of contestants in glittering costume. It is a taste of what the audiences enjoy every weekend from their living rooms – but on steroids.
Winner Matt Terry was joined on stage at Aberdeen’s AECC last night by seven other finalists, including Saara Aalto, 5 After Midnight, Honey G, Emily Middlemas, Four of Diamonds, Ryan Lawire and Sam Lavry.
In the time since the live shows finished before Christmas, it is clear to see the finalists have been working hard and improving.
Emily moved more on the Aberdeen stage than we saw in the whole television series and Honey G was almost lyrical while jumping around with a posse of sunglasses-clad dancers.
Just like in the living room, last night was a real family affair. Everyone from the smallest to the oldest was twisting and shouting along with Scottish lad Ryan.
A tear stung my eye during the powerful ballads and there were some stunning group performances, all supported by a seemingly tireless group of dancers.
Four of Diamonds proved themselves to be well polished. Instead of strutting around in skimpy clothing while striking suggestive poses like most popular girl groups right now, the four ladies were stylish, sassy and vocally on point.
Finnish Saara pushed the boat out, rising through the floor to sing from the ceiling and maintaining her impressive voice while high above the audience.
And talking about vocals, young Sam rendered me speechless.
The acts looked as though they were having just as much fun as the audience. Emily gleefully shared her excitement to be back in Scotland and her breakfast of lorne sausage. And you know what, Honey G was actually quite fun.
Stops left on the tour include Glasgow, Sheffield, Manchester, Bournemouth, Cardiff, Newcastle, Leeds, Belfast, Dublin and Brighton. See www.itv.com/xfactor/tour/the-x-factor-live-tour-2017
