Aberdeen City Council is on the lookout for people to help make a three-day festival dedicated to the history of the north-east a success.
Silver City Stories will begin on Friday, June 30 and the main programme has already been arranged.
Highlights will include a pop-up opera inspired by the Great Scottish Witch Hunt of 1597, a medieval mystery fair and a series of performances alongside a series of workshops celebrating the storytelling traditions of the north-east.
But the local authority now wants groups and voluntary organisations to help make it a success.
People are being urged to apply for up to £1,000 of funds to help them run a community-based event as part of a fringe festival running alongside the main programme.
Aberdeen City Council has already agreed to work with a number of groups in the city to make the event possible, including Sound Festival, Aberdeen Performing Arts, Quid’s In Theatre and the Aberdeen Science Centre.
Lesley Anne Rose, head of production at Aberdeen Performing Arts, said: “APA is delighted to see the diverse range of events which will bring Aberdeen’s history and heritage to life.
“Leading figures from the arts will work closely with local home grown talent to produce some memorable performances.
“It is especially exciting that many of these have been developed especially for this event.”
An Aberdeen City Council spokeswoman added: “The recent success of Spectra shows that our residents and visitors to the city embrace new cultural experiences.
“Silver City Stories will bring together many organisations from across the city and wider region.
“We are delighted to be developing a collaborative approach to culture in the city.”
