The Easter holidays are off to a sunny start and it is time for some family fun. Head to a number of National Trust for Scotland properties in the north-east for egg hunts, learning and outdoor activities.
RANGER GUIDED CHILDREN’S WALK: POND DIPPING
Let children explore the outdoors at Castle Fraser on April 12, but make sure you bring wellies! Choose either the 10.30am to 12.30pm session or 1.30pm to 3.30pm and head to the car park where the event begins and ends. Booking is essential, call 01330 844810, children are £5.

Learn about frogs at Castle Fraser on April 12. Booking is essential on 01330 844810 for Castle Fraser or 01330 844810 for Crathes Castle. Children are £5 and the events begin in the car park.
CADBURY EGG HUNTS
Use your detective skills to solve the clues to the yummy treasure hidden at Castle Fraser, Craigievar Castle, Pitmedden Garden, Leith Hall, Crathes Castle, Fyvie Castle, Brodie Castle and Drum Castle. Follow the map and solve the clues to get the chocolatey treats. Entry prices and dates vary per location and the hunt is outside so make sure you dress warmly. MAR LODGE OPEN DAY
Want to know how an estate is managed? Go and see the inside of Mar Lodge on April 16 and waltz around the Stag Ballroom. The family day out will have activities for children and entry is £3.
POND DIPPING DELIGHT
You might get a bit soggy at Culloden Battlefield on April 19 when children can find out more about pond life. Meet at the Visitor Centre car park at 2pm. Children must be accompanied by an adult and entry is £3.50 per child. Book by calling 01462 255291.
DAFFODIL WEEKEND WALKS AND EXHIBITIONDiscover the daffodil collections at Brodie Castle, bred by Ian Brodie. At £3 a person, the walks take place on April 22 and 23, leaving the stables at 11am, noon, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm. An exhibition will also show the history of the daffodil and the Brodie collection. SEEDS OF REBELLION
Head to Culloden Battlefield on May 1 to discover fun facts about Jacobite secret symbols while making a recycled, biodegradable pot. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Call 01463 796090.
