Beatles fans in search of a bit of nostalgia will Come Together this week to hear an outstanding tribute to one of the most famous bands on the planet.
Let It Be took to the stage at Aberdeen’s HM Theatre last night for the start of a six night run in the Granite City.
Portraying the four lads from Liverpool Emanuele Angeletti (Paul McCartney), John Branson (George Harrison) Ben Cullingworth (Ringo Star) and Richard Jordan (John Lennon) took the audience back to an age of Rock N Roll with hits from across a decade.
While I may not be old enough to remember the Fab-Four as they were, I took my dad along last night who indoctrinated me with their music from a very young age.
Unlike other West End shows which tread the boards frequently on that stage the evening was played out more like a Beatles gig and it definitely seemed to please the crowd who have been longing to hear the boys play once more.
Kicking off the evening with She Loves You and followed by classics like Help!, Day Tripper, Penny Lane and A Day In The Life the first act had everything a fan could ask for.
The musical talent and instrumental skills was to be commended as, with only one other backing musician, they carried the show from start to finish.
For me Act Two was a somewhat strange compilation of songs made famous by the Beatles members after their split and even some covers from artists like Chuck Berry, something that didn’t make a lot of sense given the band’s extensive back catalogue you would think there would be plenty of originals to chose from.
However the evening ended on a high as they returned to their roots to finish off with three of their most famous hits.
All in all an evening to Get Back for and definitely not one to be missed.
