Award-winning poet Alan Bisset has written a show specifically for the north-east.
Mr Francis and the Village of Secrets will take place at the Lemon Tree in Aberdeen on July 31 and August 1, and then on August 2 at Peterhead Community Theatre.
All shows start at 7.30pm.
The play, with music by Ashley Forbes, tells the story of Francis Lathom, a gothic novelist of the early 19th century who was mysteriously banished from England in 1810.
The writer reappeared in Inverurie 15 years later under the guise ‘James Francis’.
The writer’s body is buried in Fyvie Kirk Yard with the family who took him in, the Rennies.
Mr Francis and the Village of Secrets is performed by Mitchell School of Drama with a cast of 27 young people, and directed by Rhona Mitchell.
Tickets cost £11.
