Roll up, roll up, for the Continental Circus Berlin
In an age in which so much entertainment is unreal, being made up of special effects or pre-recorded, the sheer reality of a live show is a breath of fresh air.
With this firmly in mind, the producers behind Continental Circus Berlin are touring Scotland with a brand-new show which aims to entertain and amaze.
The circus has now arrived in Aberdeen with an amalgamation of brilliant circus acts, incorporating fantastic performers from all over the world – their feats and skills on display often so amazing that circus-goers can’t quite believe their eyes.
This year’s spectacular features a spellbinding array of circus talent from every corner of the Earth, including the amazing Matrix Troupe Julio, from Bulgaria, Keyla Ramache, the gyrating Spanish Hula Hoop Queen, and, from Romania, Valentin and Partica, the unbelievable high-wire artists. The latter duo not only walk the high wire but do so on stilts – Valentin even rides a bike along the wire with his wife standing precariously on his shoulders.
Other talent in the 2014 tour includes the UK’s Rowan Caeron-Brown on the flying cloud swing and the Diamond Duo, from the Czech Republic, on the jaw-dropping Wheel of Death. From Hungary, there are Zel and Zorka, hand-balancing wonders, and, from Tanzania, the back-flipping, fire-limboing African Warriors. From Spain come the award-winning clowns Los Remaches.
All this is backed by a parade of good-time pop and rock hits from the past four decades, bringing an age-old tradition into the new millennium.
Continental Circus Berlin is at Aberdeen’s Queen’s Links until Wednesday, July 23. Showtimes are Monday to Friday, 3pm and 7.45pm; Saturdays 2pm, 5pm and 7.45pm; Sundays 2pm and 5pm, and, on Wednesday, July 23, at 2pm and 5pm.
