Scotland’s favourite funny girl, Elaine C Smith had been packing theatres in Inverness and Aberdeen for years.
Usually it’s as someone else, such as Susan Boyle or one of The Calendar Girls.
This time she’s touring as herself, treating fans to her stand-up routine which includes laugh-out-loud references to her career which spans more than 30 years.
Elaine has plenty of swagger, confidence and hilarious stories to tell and these were delivered with perfect comedy timing.
Subjects broached included the way we speak in different parts of Scotland, politics, the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games, being a granny, ‘victim’ songs, and the highs and lows of being a woman in Scotland.
In the second half she read extracts from her book, Nothing Like A Dame, and took questions from the audience before bursting into song.
The funniest show I’ve seen for years, I’d happily sit through it again, and again.
