Aboyne Highland Games returns this Saturday with a full rundown of events and spectacles to enjoy.
Highland dancing will once again be one of the highlights of the annual celebration. But with 96 arena events going on, there will be plenty more to see and take part in, including the famous “heavies” tossing the caber, fiddle competitions and pipe bands.
As part of 2014’s Homecoming celebrations, the games have marked this special year by finding a strongman to take on the famous Dinnie Stones challenge.
As well as the traditional events, there will also be some sporting events in which to participate. Some are more competitive than others – from the high jump and junior sack race to the extra gruelling Fungle Hill Race.
The Aboyne Highland Games will be held at Aboyne village green on Saturday, August 2, starting at 10.30am. Further information on the games and all the activities can be found by visiting www.aboynegames.com
