Never mind hitting the highway like a battering ram on a silver-black phantom bike – the city centre was alive with the roar of Harleys as the musical Bat Out Of Hell arrived in Aberdeen.
As the audience streamed into His Majesty’s Theatre for the West End show – inspired by the music of Jim Steinman and Meat Loaf – a pack of revving Harley-Davidsons circled the venue.
The warm – and noisy – welcome by members of Dunedin Chapter Scotland of the Harley-Davidson Owners Group made sure everyone knew the show had arrived in style.
Heads turned as the roaring bikes circled His Majesty’s Theatre
Certainly, they turned the heads of passers-by, as well as people settling in at HMT for more than two hours of non-stop, high-energy rock ‘n’ roll entertainment.
Bat Out Of Hell: The Musical features classics made famous by the late Steinman and Meat Loaf, from Paradise To The Dashboard Light to Anything For Love.
Written by Steinman the show is a loose retelling of Peter Pan, set in post-apocalyptic Manhattan.
It follows Strat, the forever young leader of ‘The Lost’ who has fallen in love with Raven, daughter of Falco, the tyrannical ruler of Obsidian.
Glenn Adamson, who plays Stratt, said in a recent interview with the P&J that the cast saw the show as a tribute to the towering talents of Steinman and Meat Loaf.
