Those gods of metal, Machine Head, delighted Aberdeen fans when they announced an intimate gig at the Lemon Tree as a warm-up for their European tour.
Tickets sold out within minutes and last night fans crammed into the iconic Aberdeen venue to rock out with one of the biggest heavy metal bands in the world.
It was described as a brilliant, intimate – and sweaty – gig that would live on in memories for a long time to come, possibly even more so than when Machine Head play to 125,000 fans at Wembley Arena next week.
Machine Head warm-up gig for the ‘head cases’ of Aberdeen
When they first announced the tour back in November, the US band pitched their warm-up gigs as a way to make sure the “head cases of Scotland” didn’t miss out, with visits to smaller venues in Aberdeen, Inverness, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Dundee.
The band said: “It’s your chance to see Machine Head up close in intimate venues that are guaranteed to be bonafide sweatbox ragers.”
It was a promise they delivered on, according to P&J reviewer Kieran Beattie, who described the sheer joy of the fans at being up close and personal with such an iconic band.
