You don’t have to go through the seven levels of the candy cane forest, or past the sea of swirly-twirly gum drops, to find Buddy the Elf – he’s coming to P&J Live.
Elf – a Christmas arena spectacular – will bring festive cheer for all when it settles in for a two-night run at the Aberdeen venue.
Based on the much-loved movie starring Will Ferrell, the extravaganza is billed as the “biggest pantomime in the world”
Here’s everything you need to know about Elf at P&J Live.
What can I expect from Elf?
The production transforms the much-loved blockbuster movie into a supersized live arena spectacular featuring amazing film backdrops on a huge LED screen as well as a mobile stage that travels the auditorium ensuring everyone gets a close-up view of the action.
The fun includes Santa’s flying sleigh, an indoor snowstorm, a giant candy cane journey from the North Pole and thrilling aerial cirque stars performing high above the heads of the audience.
Based on the Broadway and West End version of Elf, it features an original score of great songs.
Who is starring in Elf?
West End star Steven Serlin is stepping into the big floppy shoes of Will Ferrell to play Buddy the Elf.
Steven admits that he had never watched the film until after he landed the role of Buddy.
He said: “It takes a lot for me to laugh out loud, but I was in hysterics. I thought it was brilliant, so I’m pleased I watched it because now I’m going to put a little bit of Will Ferrell into the Steven Serlin Buddy.”
Steven also admits the scale of the show is a real thought.
“It is going to be a massive challenge and will be interesting working out how to play to thousands of people at once because I feed off the adrenalin and the energy I get from an audience.
“One thing’s for sure, it’s going to be fun. There is nothing like getting a laugh or getting applause in the moment, especially on an arena stage and that’s the other draw for me, it’s so big.”
When is Elf on at P&J Live?
Elf will be at the venue on Thursday December 8 and Friday December 9. The show will start at 7pm on both nights, with doors opening at 6pm. It is due to end at 9pm.
