Sir Chris Hoy is already a winner on the cycle track but something of a ‘gold’ author having found lots of new fans via the books he’s written with co-author, Joanna Nadin.
The books revolve around the life and times of “Flying” Fergus Hamilton, a nine-year-old who loves being out and about on his bike with his Hercules’ Hopefuls team mates.
I loved this latest book as it’s not just about bikes but deals with some of the worries many youngsters face these days such as not having a dad in their life and mum’s new boyfriend.
What you have here is a winning combination of adventure and fun, magical and real-life experiences which younger readers can relate to, while Clare Elsom’s illustrations are simply superb and make you wish you were one of the gang yourself.
