Have you ever wondered how you would look as a comic book character?
Would you be a brave superhero, a damsel in distress or a dastardly bad guy?
Well now’s your chance to see it for real as a pair of north-east creators prepare to launch their “Toy Story meets Walking Dead” comic.
Toy-Z: The Ballad of Mr Huggles has been written by Cliff Hughes and Nicci Thompson, both from Peterhead, and they are running a Kickstarter campaign to fund an initial print run of 1,200.
Despite its cartoon look, Mr Hughes describes it as an adult comic that deals with loss, grief and finding your place in the world.
Having already impressed comic-writing legend and Judge Dredd creator John Wagner, the duo are now looking for £2,500 to get up and running.
As well as having the chance to become a character, other incentives being offered to those who donate a certain amount include limited edition copies and artwork and a tour of Black Wing Studios in Aberdeen.
Describing the comic, Mr Hughes said: “It is set in a world similar to that of Disney/Pixar’s Toy Story after an apocalyptic event has turned most of mankind into zombies.
“A couple of things inspired it. I was in a 12-year relationship and I always wanted to write about how it felt when it ended. I’ve always been interested in zombie films. Then one day I was watching an episode of The Big Bang Theory where they were talking how the toys in Toy Story would feel if they weren’t needed or wanted any more. It all just sort of came together and that’s what started it off.”
