A charity movie festival will take place at the Belmont Filmhouse in Aberdeen next month.

The Take One Action event was established in 2008 to showcase films with a social conscience and the upcoming instalment will highlight pieces with a focus on topical issues like climate change and austerity.

It is run by an Edinburgh-based, independent charity founded by film lovers, who believe that watching films together can encourage people to push for change in society.

Each film on display looks to challenge a different social injustice.

The weekend event will run from Friday, November 15, to Sunday, November 17.

It will start with a movie entitled Push, which is presented in partnership with Oxfam and focuses on housing problems.

Another film, called Everything Must Fall, is about students fighting for free and decolonised education in South Africa.

Other movies will feature medics on the frontline in the battle against ebola and a Swedish politician fighting for feminism.

Feminister has been described as an “extraordinary portrait” of politician Margot Wallström, and was shot over her first four years in office as Sweden’s Minister for Foreign Affairs.

One, called Soyalism, is about modern food production, and Scheme Birds is about a Scottish teenager growing up on a housing estate in Motherwell.

Each of the six films being shown will be followed by an audience discussion and those who worked on the movies will be present.
