Fishing with Cormorants, written by Argyll-based author, Brian Fleming, centres on Mike Smart, a cynical and world-weary Irish Republican activist.
When Don and Phil, two British army medics, are detained by the Republicans, Smart is given the task of escorting the two men to a safe house.
Together with a group including his friend, Father Aiden O’Donnell, Smart takes the prisoners to a cottage on the Isle of Scalpay. Once there, Smart must decide whether or not the men, who happen to be brothers, pose a threat to the security of his organisation. If the former is the case, Smart knows that he will have no choice but to dispatch his prisoners without mercy.
The journey by land and sea will prove to be emotional, as well as physical, with Smart forced to take an in-depth look at his sense of patriotism, moral compass and commitment to his cause.
