Hillwalkers may be familiar with Storer’s Scottish mountain guidebooks which provide excellent route-finding information.
His latest book is less a guide and more a lighthearted ramble through a lifetime of hill-walking, most notably in Scotland and the US.
While he adopts the same jokey approach as in his Ultimate Guides to the Munros, he also tackles the dangers of the mountain environment, such as being struck by lightning atop an Austrian Alp, and the death of a friend on a trip to the Mamores which Storer called off from at the last minute.
Storer also wanders off the beaten track of hill-walking to recount exploits in caving, canyoneering, and how to fall off a mountain bike.
