Hardback by Harper Collins, £9.45 (Paperback £3.85)
Sophie Hannah is already a well-established author but here the voice of the late Agatha Christie to pen the first Hercule Poirot novel since 1976. As Poirot is sitting down for supper in London’s Pleasant’s Coffee House, a young woman bursts into restaurant to tell him she will be murdered but he must not solve the crime. Later, three separate bodies are discovered in London’s swanky Bloxham Hotel, all three with a cufflink engraved with a monogram.
This novel will please even the most dedicated fan of the original novels, as great care has been taken to ensure the plot is intricate and puzzling.
The Monogram Murders is the first outing for Poirot since Christie’s death in 1976, he is definitely in safe hands with Sophie Hannah.
